Australian Nationals in Adelaide

April 19th 2017

This past week a few keen TSNZ shooters crossed the ditch to compete at the Target Rifle Australia Nationals in Adelaide.  The Aussies are always very welcoming to our shooters, and this year was no exception.  Adelaide put on some great holiday weather - up to 29 degrees one day - but this made the range conditions quite tricky with light breezes and lots of mirage.  Full results are attached.

Congratulations go to:

Ray McCaw who won the Veterans 50m Prone Championship (the total of Day 1 and Day 2 of the Jim Smith Match);

Martin Hunt who won the A Grade 20m Prone Championship, was 3rd in the Open 20m, and was 7th in the 50m Mens Prone FInal;

Janet Hunt who was 2nd in the 50m Womens Prone Championship;

Denva Wren who was 3rd in the 50m Womens Prone Championship and 5th in the Womens 3P;

Rory McLeod who was 3rd in Day 1 of the Jim Smith 50m Prone with a Commonwealth Games Qualifying Score of 621.2.

The NZ Team of Martin, Janet, Denva and Jackie Lindsay who came 3rd in the 50m State Championship;

The Womens Team of Janet and Denva came 3rd in the Womens 50m State Championship.

And to top it all off, New Zealand won a close-fought Slazenger Match which we shot at our Nationals in February, with a score of 12,233.6 to Australia's 12,206.5.

The next Australian Nationals will be held in Brisbane on 7th - 15th July 2018 - it's usually over Easter but is later in 2018 due to the Commonwealth Games.  All our shooters are welcome, so any TSNZ shooter who wants the experience of shooting at the Commonwealth Games range should put this in their calendar now!
