Commonwealth Archery & Shooting Champs 2022 - India

With all shooting events having been removed from the Commonwealth Games programme for Birmingham 2022 (despite rigorous protests from shooting organisations throughout the Commonwealth)  the alternative Commonwealth Archery & Shooting Championships have been agreed for January 2022 to be held in Chandigarh, in the Northern Indian states of Punjab and Haryana.   This is a separate event from the Commonwealth Games, however medals won at this event will be added to medal tallies from those Games.

There is very little known about the dates, venue or Qualifying and Selection Criteria for the event, and the world-wide Covid-19 crisis has now added further uncertainty to the event.

As at July 2020 the advice from NZSF is that any NZ athletes who have aspirations towards this event should attend the usual Designated Matches from 1st August 2020 through to 2021, as these scores can then be used for qualifying and MQS's as required.

Commonwealth Games 2018 - Gold Coast, Australia

The selection period for the 2018 Commonwealth Games to be held in Australia in April has now closed, with the last TSNZ Designated Match for selection being held on 10th December.  At closing there were 11 shooters over the NZSF disciplines of  Smallbore, Pistol, Clay Target and Shotgun who have achieved both the domestic and international MQS (Minimum Qualification Score) required, and these shooters will now enter the next stage of the selection process for the 8 places currently available.

The TSNZ shooters who have qualified for this next stage are Janet Hunt, Sally Johnston, and Ryan Taylor.

We wish everyone the very best, and look forward to finding out in early 2018 who will be representing TSNZ and NZ at the Gold Coast Games.
